Chitambo's dedicated Medical Officer in Charge (MOIC), Dr Sydney Chabala, asked for help regarding surgical instrument sets for the hospital.
FoCH mentioned this to Mr Alberto Gregori, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, who volunteers with Flyspec, a Zambian flying emergency service.
Mr Gregori and his partner, Dr Trish O'Connor (Consultant Emergency Medicine Specialist), wasted no time in contacting their medical networks and, before long, donations of high quality instruments (orthopedic, amputation, and Casearian Section) were forthcoming.
The donors included Flyspec, B.Braun, and MedAid International.
The consignment, including sterilisation boxes, was couriered from UK and has finally reached Chitambo.
Dr. Chabala and staff are overjoyed. Here are their messages:
