We have just received a surprise email, from the British Medical Association (BMA) Information Fund, to say that our application for a consignment of maternal and child health books, for Chitambo District, has been successful!
The books will soon be on their way to Chitambo District, for use by Rural Health Clinic staff.
This builds on work started during our Scottish Government Small Grant project on 'Strengthening Emergency Care Communications.'
Part of that project was to establish an emergency care resource centre at Chitambo Hospital, equipped with books and tablet pcs, to help staff with frontline decision making.
This new donation focuses more fully on the Rural Health Centres (RHC) some of which are very remote.
Thank you to our Zambian and Scottish Board members, Karen and Bridget, who drove this application and to Dr Jackson Phiri, Chitambo District Health Director, who advised on the book selection.
Most of all thank you to the BMA for this invaluable donation. We look forward to sharing evidence of it's application in practice.
