What a Christmas present!
The Chitambo Oxygen Generator is expected to arrive in Zambia, from Germany, before the end of the month.
Meantime, Mr David Mwitumwa, who is offering some technical support, accompanied Mr. Winston Sumaili, Project Manager, Mulilo Gases, to St Francis Hospital, Katete, Eastern Province. This was to view the Oxygen Generator and pipeline which Mulilo Gases recently installed there. St Francis is twinned with Borders General hospital in Scotland.
Mr Mwitumwa, who is a friend and former colleague of our Zambian-based Trustee, Karen, supplied the attached photos of the Saint Francis plant and shelter. It is slightly bigger than the Chitambo plant but has the same oxygen generating capacity.
Honorable Chanda Mutale, Chitambo area MP, has kindly released funding to build a reinforced concrete slab and shelter for the Chitambo plant and contractors are being identified.
The Ministry of Health has been informed and a letter has been sent to them requesting their help in clearing the plant for entry to Zambia and donation to Chitambo.
Hopefully Chitambo will soon have its very own reliable oxygen suppies. Not before time with covid still presenting real challenges.
Thanks to all who are making this possible.
