Fundraising Fun Run in Zambia
10th Nov 2022
Massive thanks to FoCH-Zambia Trustee Karen's, Fundraising Fun Run on Sunday 6th November, on her husbands farm in Lusaka, Zambia.
Heavy rain saw the event rescheduled from Saturday 5th to the Sunday but, inspite of the threat of more rain, it went ahead, with a turnout of 25 brave participants.
These included Chitambo District top health brass: Dr Jackson Phiri, District Health Director (DHD); Dr Sydney Chabala, Chitambo Hospital Resident Medical Officer; and Mr. Norman Mukuma, Chitambo Hospital Nursing Officer (pictured, left to right, with Karen in the middle).
These dedicated supporters made the long journey from Chitambo to Lusaka (500 kilometres) to take part.
Proceeds raised will go towards our new Chitambo Hospital Mothers Waiting Shelter (MWS) Project, which will save lives of many expectant mothers who must travel far to reach expert maternity care.
The shelter will cost around £36,000. We have support from Rotary Clubs in New Zealand, Scotland and Zambia, as well as collaboration from other partners, such as the Swanson Family Charity: www.swansonfamilycharity.org.uk
However this still leaves FoCH around £10,000 to find during 2023. Please visit our website to make a donation: www.friendsofchitambo.org.uk
Or watch out for our forthcoming Crowdfunding Appeal.
Thank you
