Here is a reminder of our FoCH Social Media post and contribution to SIDA newsletter (April 2026):
Friends of Chitambo (FoCH) SCIO is proud to announce that we were awarded a £100,000 grant under the Scottish Government Health Partnership Programme (SGHPP), funded by the Scottish Government, for a Health Partnership with Chitambo Hospital, Central Province, Zambia.
The grant is for the following project: Quality Improvement of Maternal and Neonatal Healthcare in Chitambo District, Central Province, Zambia: Strengthening healthcare systems through workforce capacity building and leadership development and better physical resources.
Profound thanks to the Scottish Government for this opportunity and to Global Health Partnerships (GHP), who are the Grant Managers.
Following a rigorous 3-stage application process, the 18 month project was formally launched on Tuesday 24th February 2026, at an event in Lusaka, Zambia. Three Zambian partners attended:
Mr Levison Chifwaila, Chair of FoCH-Zambia
Dr Sydney Chabala, Medical Officer in Charge at Chitambo Hospital
Mr Martin Muchalenje, Nurse Tutor at Chitambo School of Nursing and a local Project Manager for this project
Mr Chifwaila provided a presentation on behalf of the organisation (pictured).
