Mission almost accomplished! Thanks to all our generous donors and our valiant FoCH-Zambia Team, vital PPE supplies are on the way to Chitambo Hospital today.
It was a seamless operation. Our Chitambo based Trustee Mr Francis Zombe, first alerted us to the outbreak of the virus at Chitambo, on 20th January, and identified the urgent need for PPE and oxygen supplies. Our new Trustee, Mrs Ida Waddell, UCZ Health Secretary, then advised on the full requirement (visors and white suits for severe cases as well as disinfectants and hand sanitizer for prevention and milder cases). Our Operational Director, Mr Consider Mudenda, quickly sourced the products via Equicare in Lusaka and worked flat out to get the order delivered on time for our other new Trustee, Ms Karen Edwards, to transport from Lusaka to Kabwe today. There she meet up with Mr Levi Chifwaila, Senior Nurse Lecturer/Incoming FoCH Chair, who had organised onward transport to Chitambo via Dr Kennedy Kabuswe, Provincial Health Director. The team handed over the PPE plus a bookcase for our Emergency Care Resource Room at Chitambo Hospital, to Mr Dickson Kunda, Chitambo Ambulance Driver, for last lap to Chitambo.

Thanks to you and our generous donors, Chitambo has some help with tackling this deadly virus, and more is on the way.
Mr Zombe also identified the need for vital oxygen supplies, cylinders and regulating gauges.
The hospital is woefully short of these and, with a growing number of 'moderately severe' cases, may soon need a more.
We are striving to meet this urgent need as quickly as possible and, again donations received will be going on this.
