Glad tidings of great joy we bring!
2 Rotary clubs around the world are contributing to building a much needed Mothers Waiting Shelter (MWS) at Chitambo Hospital, Central Province, Zambia.
The Whanganui Rotary Club in New Zealand has confirmed a grant of $30,000 NZ plus a further $15,000NZ from a private NZ donor.
This resulted from a presentation to Whanganui Rotary by Dr Marion Taylor, a Friend of Chitambo, in collaboration with Rotarian Mr Denis McGowan.
The Penicuik Rotary club, Scotland, has also chipped in following remote presentations from Dr Marion Taylor and Dr Jackson Phiri, Chitambo District Health Director.
Friends of Chitambo and the Swanson Family Charity ...www.swansonfamilycharity.org.uk... are fundraising to fill the gap.
This story has all the hallmarks of a modern day nativity, since the MWS will provide a safe haven for expectant mothers to stay until birth of their babies at the hospital.
Thank you to all who are making this happen, including Chitambo partners themselves, who provided a strong project proposal and are creating a small video for fundraising purposes.
We have our work cut out in 2023 but together WE CAN!
