Building of the Chitambo Mothers Waiting Shelter is very nearly finished. The roof is on; the window frames are fixed; the plastering is all but done. It only remains to complete the tiling in the ablution block and some wiring, and plastering to close up the wiring tubes.
Meantime, bunk beds are being ordered from the local Mupupetwe Military Base, which has a great furniture making facility.
We have donations of furnishings....bedding...and baby clothes from the Lusaka Asian Ladies group, in Zambia.
European Friends are fundraising for other furnishings...mattresses, curtains, lockers etc.
Former Chitambo doctor, Annet Dekker, based in the Netherlands, held a very successful sale of her beautiful pottery and her church has also provided a sizeable donation.
A recent street market in Penicuik, Scotland, has also raised funds through the efforts of local helpers, Gillian, Heather, Rosemary and young Rowan (aged 15). Rowan is the future of FoCH fundraising, with many brilliant ideas.
