Remembering Our Honorary President
5th Apr 2020
Friends of Chitambo remembers our beloved Honorary President Mrs Janet Knox on the 3rd anniversary of her passing. Janet was a nursing sister at Chitambo Hospital, Central Zambia, in the 1960s. She loved the place and the people and has left a real legacy in the Student Nurse Scholarships, which were her vision. Four students have graduated through this scheme so far and have now secured jobs. Three current students will graduate this year, bringing the total to seven that we will have sponsored through the full three years of their training. It is particular thanks to Janet's family that we have been able to continue this initiative and we thank them for all they have, and are still doing. Other generous donors in the south of England have also matched their contributions with an additional funded scholarship. You are all making a huge difference to lives.
THANK YOU!
Scholarships cost £800 to £900 per student per year. We hope to be able to expand the opportunity to further students next year so PLEASE if anyone else can help us, do make contact. You will be be transforming lives. Please see the TotalGiving donation button on this website, or alternatively email Dr Jo Vallis, Chair, for details: jovallis@hotmail.com.
